“Addis hiwot” meaning New Life in Amharic, the national language of Ethiopia, our NGO tries to provide exactly that for the thousands of street children and teens which it welcomes every year.
Vision
The vision of NLTCDP is to see empowered street Children & youth recognized as productive and useful citizens by the community.
Mission
The mission of NEW Life is to rehabilitate street Children & youth socially, economically and psychologically, so that they will be productive citizens and a well-mannered useful generation. The target beneficiaries are typically young people who live on the street with in age range of 12- 28 years old. New Life Teen Challenge Development Program contributes to the empowerment of street Children & youth particularly girls in the area of Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS, gender equity and Employment. Our experience with street Children & youth confirms that street Children & youth particularly the girls are the one who lead the most miserable life in the street and need special attention and protection. Therefore, NLTCDP provides shelter for the most affected girls and some boys for one year where they get different services including psychosocial service which would help them to undergo behavior change and become self-reliant. After 12-month rehabilitation service the street Children & youth are expected to start the new life either with their families through family reintegration program or by themselves engaging in different income generating activities.

Overwhelming need focus: HIV In regards to HIV/AIDS, with Ethiopia now number three in the world in infection rates, totaling an estimated 2.6 million people who are infected with the virus, it is important that we expand our programs to help more people. Because of the high prevalence of HIV/AIDS and limited exposure to appropriate education and prevention programs, there is a great need to spread out our organization to reach more areas in Ethiopia.
All-inclusive and main challenges
• Funding problem for program expansion. • Funding problem to reach more cities and launch more branches.
